10 Hilarious Tourism Ads

I love the internet. Not just for its vast expanse of information, but also because it never lets you forget anything. All those old photos of you are lurking out there somewhere, ready to horrify you as soon as you spot them. Why would we let these places forget their marketing missteps and/or genius when they're worth so hearty a laugh? We won’t! Here are ten hilarious tourism ads you’re going to want to share with your friends:

The city of Halifax wants you to relive the 80s… as though the neon bubble skirts and oversized leg warmers shouldn’t be left to antiquity...

Iceland’s hot tub etiquette lessons will have you singing, “head, armpits, crotch and toes, crotch and toes” for the rest of the day:

Ever wanted to see giant Benjamin Franklin battle a ten storey high Philly cheesesteak? Now you can! You’re welcome.

Did you know there is an alternative way to mount a bike, namely from a lying down position? This tourism video from Amsterdam shows you how. You should maybe set your drink down to watch this.

I think the Dutch might put a little too much emphasis on the power of tulips. You be the judge:

This half hour piece from Calgary makes several attempts to get a snicker out of you. I think it flops, but it’ll certainly take you back in time.

I’m still waiting for Bob Newhart to come crawling out of this one from Chicago:

In this piece from Australia, Paul Hogan wants to throw another extra shrimp on the barbie for ya. (Australian Editor's note: these are called prawns in Australia!)
